What are the reasons for the poor effect of fiber laser cutting machine in cutting stainless steel?
Stainless steel is a very common metal material in the industrial field. Processing stainless steel usually involves cutting. With the development of fiber laser cutting machine technology, it is used in more and more industries.
Fiber laser cutting is to use a focused high-power density laser beam to irradiate the workpiece to melt the irradiated material, and at the same time use the coaxial high-speed gas to blow off the molten material, so as to achieve the purpose of cutting the workpieceor the metal materials.
Compared with traditional cutting methods, fiber laser cutting has simple operation, better processing compatibility, fast speed and good effect, which is recognized by more and more customers.
However, in the process of stainless steel cutting, some customers have problem of poor cutting results, so the following points have been sorted out:
When the fiber laser cutting machine cuts stainless steel, the effect is not good, how should we do?
Factors affecting the fiber laser cutting effect of stainless steel: cutting height, nozzle model, focus position, cutting power, cutting duty cycle, cutting air pressure and cutting speed etc. The hardware conditions include: protective lens, gas purity, plate quality, focusing lens and collimating lens, etc.
1.  Check the relevant parameters and hardware conditions
Adjust the relevant parameters. When cutting stainless steel, the cutting height should be adjusted to between 0.8mm and 1.2mm. If the actual cutting height is inaccurate, it needs to be calibrated. Choose the appropriate nozzle size and model according to the thickness of the stainless steel, and check whether the nozzle of the cutting head is damaged and whether the roundness is normal before cutting. Finally, adjust the cutting parameters.
Check the hardware conditions. It is recommended to use a cutting nozzle with a diameter of 1.0 to check the optical center. The focus should be between -1 and 1 when checking the optical center. The light spot is small and easy to observe. Check whether the protective lens is clean. It requires no water, no oil and no slag spots. Sometimes the protective lens may be fogged due to weather or the assist gas is too cold.
1. Problems and the solutions of stainless steel cutting with fiber laser cutting machine
There is dregs during cutting. If only the corners are dregs, you can consider rounding the corners first. In terms of parameters, you can reduce the focus and increase the air pressure. If there is hard slag on the whole, it is necessary to reduce the focus, increase the air pressure, and increase the cutting nozzle, but the focus is too low or the air pressure is too high, which will cause delamination and roughness of the section. If the granular soft slag is hung on the whole, the cutting speed can be appropriately increased or the cutting power can be reduced. Cut the slag on the side of the stainless steel that is about to end, check whether the gas supply is insufficient and the gas flow cannot keep up.
There are problems for customers such as insufficient brightness of the section when cutting thin plates, rough sections of thick plates, etc. To cut the section to be bright, first of all, the surface of the plate needs to be free of rust, paint, and oxide film, and secondly, the oxygen purity is at least 99.5% or more. It is necessary to use a small nozzle double layer 1.0 or 1.2, the cutting speed needs to exceed 2m/min, and the cutting air pressure should not be too high. If you want a good cut section of a thick plate, you must first ensure the purity of the plate and gas, and secondly, select the right nozzles. The larger the aperture, the better the section quality, but at the same time the taper of the section will be larger.
